Savemom – Featured in YourStory

In a celebration of life-changing innovation, YourStory highlights the last three game-changing businesses from the Qualcomm Design in India Challenge (QDIC) 2023, including Savemom, a maternal healthcare solution making critical inroads into India’s most underserved regions.

Savemom, along with SIAMAF Healthcare and LivNSense Technologies, is a notable innovator transforming how we approach important difficulties in maternal care, cancer treatment, and industrial safety through the breakthrough application of wearable technology and AI.

Inception Story

Savemom was created out of a deeply personal experience. Senthilkumar Murugesan, Co-founder and CEO of JioVio Healthcare, witnessed his pregnant sister’s struggle to access facilities in a small hamlet near Madurai. The event revealed a harsh reality: millions of expectant moms in rural India do not receive timely healthcare.

That realization inspired Senthilkumar and his Co-founder Dhinesh Pandian to create wearable gadgets and IoT-based medical kits that continually monitor maternal vitals and address major gaps in rural healthcare.

Product Differentiation

Savemom’s innovation stems from a comprehensive, scalable ecosystem that seamlessly connects pregnant women, community health workers, and doctors. The environment contains:

  • Wearable bracelets that monitor vital signs such as Blood Pressure, Heart rate, oxygen levels, and glucose.
  • Smartphone apps for real-time alerts and analytics
  • IoT-enabled medical kits for frontline employees

Together, these methods enable early risk detection and prompt interventions, resulting in considerable reductions in maternal mortality, particularly in places where hospital access is limited or delayed.

QDIC’s Contribution

Through QDIC, Savemom received:

  • Mentorship and technical support
  • Patent filing assistance
  • Integration of 5G technology for real-time tracking

Qualcomm’s strategic investment has accelerated Savemom’s effect, allowing the business to fine-tune its technology for scale and durability in real-world low-resource circumstances.

Savemom is part of the Qualcomm Design in India Challenge 2023, which includes a strong lineup of startups developing technology that has a real impact. With backing from NASSCOM CoE-IoT, Startup India, and Qualcomm’s ecosystem, this year’s cohort demonstrates that innovation can and should benefit humanity.
