In order to lower maternal and newborn mortality in the District, the Dhule Zilla Parishad has started a creative project called Savemom. The goal of this pilot program is to use technology to improve maternal healthcare in four primary health centres (PHCs).
A Step Towards Safer Pregnancies
The Savemom campaign was started on February 15, 2024, with the goal of reducing the high rates of maternity and newborn deaths in rural regions. This program was led by Dhule Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Shubham Gupta, and its execution was supervised by important district officials, such as District Health Officer Sachin Bodke and Epidemiological Medical Officer Sanjay More.
Implementation at PHCs
Savemom was implemented at four PHCs during the first phase: Boradi and Rohini in Shirpur Taluka, and Kudashi and Dahivel in Sakri Taluka. Fertile couples and high-risk pregnant women are registered through the Savemom portal, which guarantees prompt Medical attention, Dietary assistance, Routine checkups, and Delivery safety counselling.
These PHCs’ medical staff have received training on how to effectively use the Savemom system, guaranteeing ongoing observation and prompt action. Through technology-driven solutions, the project not only improves maternal care but also establishes a systematic method for lowering pregnancy-related complications.
Technology-Driven Maternal Care
Health personnel at the Taluka and PHC levels have received Savemom platform training to guarantee a smooth deployment. From pregnancy through the first three years of the child’s life, the system tracks the mother’s health continuously and provides counselling and any necessary medical assistance.
Future Expansion
The program, which aims to drastically reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates, will be progressively extended to the entire district after showing encouraging results. The success of Dhule’s Savemom program demonstrates how technology may revolutionise maternal healthcare.
This program ensures moms and newborns receive timely care by bridging the gap between technology and community-based healthcare. Savemom hopes to establish a standard for maternity healthcare in other districts with the help of the government.
