Savemom – Featured in The Times of India

A Vision Born from Personal Experience

When Mr. Senthil Kumar’s sister became pregnant in 2016, JioVio Healthcare’s journey truly began. He developed a series of monitoring kits that could assess her key health parameters in real time and offer updates to gynaecologists, as he was concerned about the lack of continued maternal care. He decided to expand his efforts to aid pregnant women in rural India after understanding the potential of his idea.

Bringing Healthcare to Remote Villages

JioVio Healthcare unveiled the Savemom kits, a line of smart gadgets intended to track and enhance maternal health, in February 2017. One of these technologies is a wearable that resembles a rudraksha and tracks daily activities, sleep habits, and caloric intake. The device’s colour-coded alerts educate pregnant women about nutrition, vitamins, and excellent habits.

Healthcare personnel are also equipped with medical kits and smart tablets that measure body temperature, heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and glucose levels. Doctors can detect high-risk pregnancies and take prompt action by using AI to examine data that is automatically uploaded to the cloud.

Proven Impact Through Pilot Programs

JioVio Healthcare launched a trial run from April 2017 to November 2018 to assess Savemom’s efficacy. Over an 18-month period, 1,400 pregnant women from 25 remote areas in Kerala (Wayanad) and Tamil Nadu (Ooty) used the kits.

AI-powered tracking enabled early risk diagnosis and fast interventions. Ninety percent of the mothers were found to be malnourished, emphasising the urgent need for improved maternal nutrition.

“There were villages in Wayanad that had no access to healthcare facilities,” stated Swati Negi, a health coordinator with Amrita Serve NGO who worked on the pilot project. We were able to monitor the health of expectant moms using this program and even deliver food supplements to their door.

From Corporate Job to Social Entrepreneurship

Mr. Senthil Kumar worked in business after earning a degree in electronics and electrical engineering in 2010. He started the business in Singapore with the support of financiers, but he rapidly relocated to Madurai and Bengaluru to focus on rural India.

The majority of JioVio Healthcare’s funding has come from investments and wins in innovation contests and challenges.

The Road Ahead

What started as a brother’s concern for his sister’s well-being has grown into a breakthrough that has saved the lives of hundreds of women. JioVio Healthcare’s Savemom kits demonstrate how technology may bridge the maternal healthcare gap and ensure that even moms in remote areas of India receive the treatment they require.

We would like to Thank the Times of India for publishing this article and bringing awareness of the critical need for maternal healthcare solutions in underserved communities. Such coverage is critical for increasing awareness, sparking change, and fostering future technological breakthroughs in healthcare by highlighting major innovations such as Savemom.

One thing is certain: as Mr. Senthil Kumar and his team expand their mission, maternal healthcare will become smarter, more connected, and more accessible than ever before.
