Savemom Featured in The Bridge

Savemom is taking action to change a nation where almost 70% of expectant mothers reside in rural regions with little access to medical care. The initiative, which was started by Divya Krishnan and Sunder Jagannathan, is a part of JioVio, a Singaporean firm with Olivewear, an Indian branch. By enabling pregnant women in distant communities to obtain necessary health monitoring without having to travel great distances, Savemom’s primary goal is to transform maternity care.

The Birth of an Idea

A straightforward insight led to the founding of Savemom: many pregnant women in rural India only see a doctor once or twice during their pregnancy. Maternal mortality and the risk of complications are raised by this absence of medical monitoring. After much study, Savemom’s original concept—a wearable health tracker for metropolitan women—was refined. The team came to the conclusion that rural women required more accessible healthcare and ongoing monitoring. As a result, a maternal care package that delivers health examinations to expecting mothers’ homes was created.

Smart Solutions for Smarter Healthcare

A complete maternal health package from Savemom includes:

  • Wearable health monitoring gadgets that measure blood sugar, Heart rate, and sleep habits.
  • A cloud-based platform for sharing data in real time with medical experts.
  • Pregnancy-related advice on a mobile app for both urban and rural consumers.
  • Automatic reminders for medication and check-ups.

Savemom makes sure that pregnant women may get timely Health checkups even in rural places by combining IoT-based services. Surprisingly, field tests demonstrated that the system worked well even in remote and mountainous areas, despite worries about internet availability in rural India.

Overcoming Challenges & Expanding Reach

The hurdles of starting a healthcare firm include developing new products, locating suitable manufacturing partners, and gaining the trust of users and physicians. Through international partnerships, accelerator program coaching, and government assistance, the Savemom team was able to overcome these obstacles. Savemom received money and access to villages through state collaborations after being chosen as one of Karnataka’s top 100 companies. In order to ensure that more women receive the care they require, Savemom’s reach has also been increased through partnerships with NGOs like Amrita SeRVe.

A Vision for the Future

Although maternal healthcare is Savemom’s primary emphasis at the moment, the company’s founders have bigger plans. Their objective is to broaden their offerings into more healthcare domains while upholding their dedication to cost and accessibility. Their experience demonstrates how cutting-edge technology may bring about long-lasting change when paired with a thorough comprehension of grassroots issues.
